אַלִּים, אַלְּמָאm., אַלִּימָא f. (אלם) strong, influential; violent. Targ.Y. Gen. 25:23; a. e.Git. 60b, a. fr. כל דא׳ גבר whoever is in power wins (right of possession in cases in which the judge is unable to decide). Ḥull.39b איניש אלמא a powerful man (defying the law).Keth.14a א׳ ליה בריא to him the positive assertion is the stronger argument.Pl. אַלִּימֵי Ḥull.76a thick (sinews).
